Ten Commandments

I would like to mention the Ten Commandments in this post.

God said this to Moses at Mount Sinai. Exodus 19: 6b "These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites."

Commandment 1

Exodus 20:1-3 "And God spoke all these words: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me."

Commandment 2

Exodus 20:4-6 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of their fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments."

Commandment 3

Exodus 20:7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name."

Commandment 4

Exodus 20:8-11 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For the six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."

Commandment 5
Exodus 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you."

Commandment 6
Exodus 20:13 "You shall not murder."

Commandment 7
Exodus 20:14 "You shall not commit adultery."

Commandment 8
Exodus 20:15 "You shall not steal."

Commandment 9
Exodus 20:16 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor."

Commandment 10
Exodus 20:17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

--Jesus says in the New Testament that all of these commandments can be summed up into the 1st and 2nd commandment.--

Now, I am going to list how I have broken all of these commandments.
1. I prefer to be satisfied in music than with God.
2. I worship my accomplishments instead of God.
3. Before I was a christian, I always said the words "oh my God!" (It's quite a popular phrase) or Jesus Christ, you are dumb!
4. I always work on the Sabbath day.
5. I still get upset and mad at my parents even though I love them very much.
6. Matthew 5:21 "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not muder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgement.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgement." I always seem to find myself angry with the people around me.
7. Matthew 5:27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Although Jesus was talking to men here, it can be applied to woman. This is very wrong indeed, but I find myself "checking out" men a lot.
8. If I don't know an answer to a test, I always look to the person beside me. I steal their answers.
9. I lie about my accomplishments to make myself sound better.
10. This one is hard to understand. But it means, do not desire something that clearly belongs to someone else. So, I wish that I was the best horn player at Eastman.

Looking at my confession of sins, I have realized that I am not even close to being perfect. None of us are. In fact, reading these things, I look like a selfish person.  This is why we need our Savior, Jesus Christ. Romans 6:17 "But Thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have became slaves of righteousness." ....Romans 6:22 "But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

God also says this: "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood- to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished- he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus." Romans 3:23-26

As long as we trust in Jesus as our Savior, our sins before and afterward will not be accounted for. Now that's incredible.

Angels

Before I was a Christian, I was always interested in angels. I used to wonder whether or not a family member from heaven was in a room watching me, keeping me safe.

Now that I am a Christian, I still wonder the same thing. I also wonder whether or not these angels disguise themselves as normal people in public.

Before I tell you a story, I want to give some biblical references to angels in the Bible.
Matthew 4:10-12 "Jesus said to him, "Away from me Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the LORD your God and serve him only.'" Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him."
Luke 4:10 "For it is written: He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully."

There are many other examples of angels protecting us. I would love to list them all, but if you are curious, go to www.biblegateway.com and type in the search box "angel(s)" and you will find other examples of how God uses angels to protect us.

Anyway, I was traveling for the first time on a train last night to visit family in Ohio. At the station, I was observing my surroundings until my eyes caught this old man who was sitting diagonally from me. I saw that he was interested in me. He had a faint smile, and looked so peaceful. Every so often we looked at each other and smiled. But, I wonder... Does God send down his angels to represent normal people in public places to look after us? After looking at this man, I wondered to myself whether he was an angel. But, I guess I will never know, for it says.. Hebrews 13: 1-3 "Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing so some people have shown hospitality to angels without even knowing it."

It amazes me that angels are all around us and I wanted to share. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Its been a while!

Good evening, readers!

It has been too long since I have posted. I have been very busy with school. Taking 26 credits is crazy! Also, God has not really provided me with a topic. My last posts I was inspired by God's Word, and that's why I shared them. But now, I have a new topic that has been on my mind lately. I hesitate because many non-christians do not like this topic. However, it needs to be addressed.

Last weekend I heard some news about someone not wanting to live anymore. To be honest, I cried a lot. I cried because in the bible, those who do not believe in God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, will be forever in hell. I'm going to list verses that say this, and why it is important to believe in our Savior, Jesus Christ!

John 5:24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

John 6:27 "I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life."

John 8:51 "I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death."

John 12:25-26 "The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me."

Romans 2:7-8 "To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger."

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Does this scare you? I know it scared me for the first time. Now a believer in God's Word, I deeply long for all to be saved from death. But how? JESUS! Jesus died for our sins! He died so that we can live! Why can't we put our faith in Jesus so we can have eternal life?? It is so simple! Ask for Jesus, and He will come! (read my testimony for an example of Him receiving me)

Romans 7:7-8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
