Receive the Best Gift of All Time

This post you are about to read has been put on my heart for a long time.  And God has finally given me the words through His Holy Spirit.

I am poor, but blessed. This is why.

My husband and I are completely on our own financially (except for college loans).  We have been ever since we got married.  Our life is not extravagant. We see people we know spend money as if it doesn't matter. For months I hated the fact that I could not live like they do.  I wanted to live freely and spend money so that I could feel better about myself, so I could be happy.

God has revealed one of His many truths to me, and I would like to share with you.  Please know that I share these things out of love and respect of my Father in Heaven, and I want him to receive all the glory.  And I hope you see the goodness of God.

I have experienced two different lifestyles.  The first lifestyle is mine, where I wait on God to provide everything that we need.  The second lifestyle is of another's, where they immediately buy what their impulses tell them, whether it is with expensive food, clothing, or any of the like.

This second lifestyle I experienced for a couple of days.  Instead of trusting God, the God who loves me so much and died for me on the cross, and providing what He knows best for my life, this other lifestyle bought me everything.  When I was only a little bit hungry, I received food right then and there. I just ate and ate and ate. And I was never satisfied.

When this other lifestyle was buying all of my needs and wants, there was no room for God.

I was really taken aback by what I experienced.  Ever since I've been married, God has provided so many great things for Sterling and I, and revealing His goodness to us.  When we were running low on food, God provided for us, and friends would give us their leftovers they didn't eat.  When we were tired and were far away from home, God provided a place for us to stay, and others offered their homes for us to rest at.

I am poor, but blessed.  Because God, with His mighty strength and power, can provide for me. No matter how impossible it is.  Because everything is possible with God. Blessed are those who are in need, for God will provide.

Luke Chapter 6, The Sermon on the Mount, by Jesus Christ

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said:
“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
“Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied.
“Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
“Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.

When you are in a pickle, do not worry. Your problem is never too big for God. It is never a burden to Him. He delights to provide for you. You just have to receive the best gift of all time: God's Love.
