I have realized that although I am blogging about how great our God is, I have not explained what it means to be a Christian! Plus, since Christians have been getting bad reviews lately, I think it would be great to clear some things up.
In my words, a Christian is "Christ-like." We live according to Jesus Christ's teachings. Now, you may ask, who is Jesus Christ? Jesus is the Son of God who was born from the virgin Mary. Most Christians believe that Jesus is God, but in human form. When He started His ministry around the age of 30, He went to the needy first. He helped the sick, the poor, the evil ones... etc. This is important because Jesus sat upon "the sinners" of the world. I say it like that because it is written many times in the gospels that Jesus sat upon sinners.
Here is one example:
Mark 2: 15-17 "While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with the tax collectors and 'sinners'?" On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Jesus died for our sins on the cross so we can have eternal life. When Jesus defeated death, he rose three days later. Because of this, death will never be the end of us, as long as we believe in Him. As long as we believe in the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we will be given eternal life.
But, that is not all of being a Christian is about. Being a Christian is like following in Christ's footsteps. We are given a love that truly cannot be described in words. This is why we witness to others. And that is what I am doing now! I have been from the low of low's. Once I upload my testimony sometime in September, you will understand. But, there is hope! Why not love Your Creator so you can achieve eternal life? Why not receive the love that no one else can provide on earth? If you are seeking for something that does not exist on earth, why not look to Christ? God wants us to love him. And He so dearly loves us. Do you not see the path? It's easy. All you have to do is ask God to reveal Himself to you, and He will.
